Keeping the "tiger" at bay; with fewer experts and facilities, the DOE is trying new ways of preventing nuclear accidents

Article Abstract:

Experts believe that accidental criticality, a nuclear accident that results in a shower of radiation, is more likely to occur in 1996 than ever before. Most past nuclear accidents of this type occurred under conditions that exist in 1996, and fewer experts and funds are available to prevent accidents.

Lobster stew: dredging and reducing sewage may threaten a Boston harvest

Article Abstract:

Some biologists warn that the planned dredging project for Boston Harbor could have a severe long-term impact on the area's lobster fishery. They also state that the lobster population also stand to lose a major source of sustenance when the city redirects sewage outflow from the harbor.
