Laws of calorie counting

Article Abstract:

A description of the history of the calculation of the calorific value of food is presented. The first experiments were conducted in 1894 and developed into the current calorific value system which was adopted in 1947.

Plant geneticist Jack Harlan has proposed a 'no-model model' for the beginning of agriculture. The preadaptation of foragers gave them the knowledge to begin farming staple cereal crops when the glaciers receded.
