Article Abstract:

The increasing demand for chains is driving manufacturers to improve their products and to introduce new technologies that improve service life, decrease maintenance requirements at a reduced cost. Consulting firm Frost and Sullivan predicts an increased growth in demand for belt and chain components in Europe which translates to an increase from 1.53 billion pounds sterling to approximately 2.16 billion pounds sterling in 2004. New sources of revenue are also expected to come from consumers who will replace or supplement old equipment with an eye to safety and environmental regulations.
