Scientists named in PCR suit

Article Abstract:

Hoffman-LaRoche provided the court a list of about 200 researchers who it believes has infringed on the patent for Taq polymerase, commonly used to amplify DNA in polymerase chain reaction (CRR). The list is being used by both Hoffman-LaRoche and Promega Corp in their cases against one another.

Signaling inside neurons takes some new twists

Article Abstract:

Two surprising discoveries were reported at the 1996 Symposium on Quantitative Biology. The same protein, gustducin, controlled both sweet and sour detection in genetically altered mice, and Nerve Growth Factor can bind with p75 protein to kill retinal neurons during embryonic development.
