Martian field test: Drilling in Greenland to prepare for Mars

Article Abstract:

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, is designing the ice drill named Chronos in order to melt its way into Earth's ice sheet above the Arctic Circle as a test of its worthiness for the coveted NASA mission to Mars in 2011. Chronos is drilling in Summit Camp, Greenland, to prepare for Mars, as ice is the only accessible climate record on it.

Oceanographers from Japan and South Korea teamed up with the U.S. navy to explore the Japan/East Sea in 1999.The researchers uncovered that the Dok Cold Eddy explains the misunderstood flows in the Sea of Japan that may help naval operations, commercial shipping and fishing.

Voyagers to the end

Article Abstract:

The article discusses readings received from the voyager spacecrafts, which shows that the solar system is dented at the bottom and presents first sign of the end of the solar system. The presence of the termination shock near the system was also observed.
