Mine-boggling decision: Nova Scotia's government said "no" to development, to save an endangered plant

Article Abstract:

The Nova Scotia government ruled against the proposed development of a peat mine to protect a drosera filiformis habitat. This endangered three-leaved sundew species is found in only four known places in Canada. Under the Special Places Act, the government plans to make an ecological reserve of the plant's habitat.

Schools for species: CNF's endangered species poster contest was a hit with students

Article Abstract:

The Canadian Nature Federation's 'Schools for Species' education program and poster contest has generated a lot of interest and environmental awareness among students. Grade schools students enthusiastically participated in the poster contest which also helped them with their science education.

Impartial listing endangered?

Article Abstract:

Federal and provincial wildlife ministers have voted to remove independent scientists from the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada. The Canadian Nature Federation has raised concern over the move, which would eliminate the committee's effectivity and impartiality.
