Mining for oil

Article Abstract:

New technologies are being developed to extract oil from oil sands and oil shales. These include improvements on the separation technique developed by Karl Clark, where oil is made to flow out of oil sands with the injection of steam into the ground. For oil shales, the crushed shales are baked and the evaporating oil is recovered.
