Molecular modeling software: tools for 3-D visualization

Article Abstract:

Software that enables 3-D modeling of the structure of protein molecules has helped advanced the fields of combinatorial chemistry and drug design. The development of HIV protease inhibitors, a promising AIDS therapy, was made possible with 3-D modeling. Several packages are described.

Call to desegregate microbial databases

Article Abstract:

Researchers are planning an international initiative to link separate databases with complementary information on microbiology into one united web called the Federated Microbiology Database. The project will allow scientists to quickly trace a microbe's functional and genetic traits.
