Multiscale polycrystal plasticity

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine a macroscale hardening law formulation of geometrically necessary dislocation boundaries (GNB) strengthening mechanisms that are mapped to the orientation distribution of crystallites in to assign slip system shear flow resistance in a polycrystal plasticity model. A mapping procedure of the macroscale hardening surface to the length scale of grains determined crystallographic shear flow resistance. Results indicate that the hardening surface model of GNB strengthening mechanisms can afford improved predictive capability of nonproportional loading behavior of copper.

Effect of deformation path sequence on the behavior of nanoscale copper bicrystal interfaces

Article Abstract:

The effect of deformation sequence and history on the inelastic response of copper interfaces on the nanoscale is examined. The confinement of path-history dependent material behavior within a finite layer of deformation around the bicrystal interface is observed.

Application of multiscale crystal plasticity models to forming limit diagrams

Article Abstract:

Parametric examinations of forming limit diagrams are conducted using a multi-crystal plasticity model. It is demonstrated that shear softening can largely influence the necking pattern.
