Natural evolution: Celebrating the first 65 years of Nature Canada

Article Abstract:

'Canadian Nature' was launched in the year 1939 by publisher Reginald Whittemore as a bi-monthly, magazine devoted to nature and its conservation. It laid the foundation for the creation of the Audubon Society of Canada in 1948 that became the independent Canadian Audubon Society in '61, then the Canadian Nature Federation in '71, and finally Nature Canada in 2004.

Eco-logics: Seeking best practices in ecotourism, an industry in transition

Article Abstract:

An overview of Canadian ecotourism which is an industry in transition and evolving fast from a sightseeing to a learning experience, based on four pillars, embodying the principles of sustainable tourism (ST) is presented. Guidelines to chose an authentic eco-tourism provider having a proper eco-certification is also presented.

Canada's National Marine Conservation Areas Act will help to protect some areas of Canada's vast ocean and lake resources. The offshore area is equivalent to 72% of Canada's land area, and Canada has the longest coastline of any country on Earth.
