Industrial buyers are calling for increased supplier participation in the production process. This trend demands improved inter-organizational linkages between industrial organizations. As a phenomenon reflecting the shift from one industrial era to the next, the network organization represents a stage in the evolution of the firm's relationship with its environment. Eventually, new kinds of organizations will come into existence with strategic positions being gained by entrenched firms.

Moneo was honored with the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1996.
