New images wet researchers' appetites

Article Abstract:

The Infrared Space Observatory has detected the first evidence of water vapor outside the solar system and has found the coolest-ever clouds of molecular hydrogen. ISO has also provided a spectrum of Saturn's atmosphere and traced hot spots in the Whirlpool Galaxy.

Closing in on superconductivity

Article Abstract:

Researchers at the Thomas J. Watson Research Laboratories have found evidence that the behavior of superconducting electrons conforms to the d-wave theory. However, s-wave theories still have some supporters. Both theories are discussed.
