New progress in the chemistry of stable metallaaromatic compounds of heavier group 14 elements

Article Abstract:

Several silaaromatic compounds such as silabenzene, 1-and 2-silanaphthalenes and 9-silaanthracene were synthesized with the help of kinetic stabilization, afforded by introduction of an efficient steric protection group. The molecular structures and unique reactivities of these metallaaromatic species, with the help of experimental results, are discussed.

Peptido- and glycocalixarenes: playing with hydrogen bonds around hydrophobic cavities

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the macrocycles ranging from calixarene-based hydrogen bonding receptors with alpha-amino acids and peptide units linkage forming peptidocalixarenes or with sugar moieties forming glycocalixarenes to calixarenes. The synthesis, conformations, and supramolecular properties of the above complexes are described.

Breaking, making, and twisting of chemical bonds in gas, liquid, and nanocavities

Article Abstract:

The study of 1'-hydroxy-2'-acetonaphthone (HAN, a proton transfer prototype molecule) in gas, solutions, and nanoactivities is presented. The internal H-bond photoreaction in HAN leads to ketotype structure, and following its formation, an internal twisting motion gives birth to keno rotamers.
