The design of the world's largest telescope at the University of California is discussed. Using a primary mirror 100 feet in diameter, it will be able to focus on faint space objects, galaxies and planets orbiting other stars.

Issues are presented concerning the influence of global warming on the splitting of the ice cap in Antarctica. The wedge like action of water within the crevasses has caused ice chunks the size of US states to break off.
