Notre Dame completes main building renovation

Article Abstract:

Engineers and construction crews have completed two years of renovations to the main administration building of Notre Dame University. The 118-year-old, 150,000 sq-ft building had to be gutted to gauge the manner in which it had been initially constructed. The engineering team discovered cracked timbers and an inconsistent structural system. The 10-year, $54-million project included nearly eight years of planning before its interior was redeveloped to bring the structure into compliance with existing building codes.
