Over and out

Article Abstract:

UK business and industry appears poised to welcome a new era in design as a growing number of companies increasingly recognize the importance of product development as a basis for growth. One such company is ICG of Cheltenham, which developed a new line of compact scanners over an 11-month period. The Training for Industry and Commerce has taken the sponsorship of a series of Successful Product Development Seminars throughout the UK from the Design Council to impart the essential skills of product development. Since 1994, some 1,400 individuals attended the seminar series annually, or about 2,000 companies during the period.

Power games

Article Abstract:

Industrial and commercial users will obtain complete freedom to choose their suppliers within a flexible tariff structure when the electricity supply market implements total deregulation by the end of 1998. However, changing suppliers will involve a trade-off between cost savings and probable negative side-effects. UK, Sweden and Finland are already leaders in the trend, as they allow all industrial consumers to choose their electricity suppliers. On the other hand, consumers in Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Denmark still have no choice of supplier.

Driving force

Article Abstract:

The analysis of the marketplace of the computer aided design technology (CAD) is very difficult. The marketplace for CAD must be stable and saturated as CAD technology has already implemented worldwide. The introduction of new software is continuously changing the market for CAD products. A market survey report for the CAD products shows that the major market share is enjoyed by PC-based software. The CAD technology is now developing knowledge-based engineering software and engineering data management programs.
