More marketing opportunities are seen for conducting polymers due to the proliferation of plastic and electrical devices. The cheap, durable, manufacturable and flexible material is being eyed for applications such as artificial muscles, transparent circuits, electromagnetic shielding and antistatic coatings.

"Plastics, Benjamin ...": photorefractive polymers make a big gain in data storage

Article Abstract:

Researchers at the IBM Almaden Research Center have created photorefractive polymers that can store large amounts of information in the form of holograms. The two-dimensional holograms in photorefractive substances are erasable.
