Princeton mathematician looks back on Fermat proof

Article Abstract:

Princeton University's Andrew Wiles has successfully concluded a seven-year attempt to prove Fermat's Last Theorem. The proof will be published in the May 1995 issue of Annals of Mathematics. The proof and its link to the Taniyama-Shimura conjecture are discussed.

The study of higher dimensional space can be useful in such areas of study as DNA sequences. However trying to visualize dimensions higher than three is difficult for the researcher. Various higher dimensional studies are presented.

At state schools, calculus reform goes mainstream

Article Abstract:

State universities are adopting new methods of teaching calculus that have been pioneered by smaller schools. The reform teaching methods involve smaller classes, cooperative learning formats and use of cognitive psychology.
