Sorption of pyrene to dissolved humic substances and related model polymers. 1. Structure-Property correlation

Article Abstract:

Dissolved humic substances (DHS) and polyacrylic acid are mixed with pyrene and phenanthrene to help map the sorption of hydrophobic organic compounds in the environment. Aromaticity and polarity factors are recorded through solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and graphed.

Production of Toxaphene enantiomers by enantioselective HPLC after isolation of the compounds from an anaerobically degraded technical mixture

Article Abstract:

Authors used a chiral stationary HPLC phase and racemates to get pure enantiomers of toxaphene standards. The results of the study, illustrated in figures and tables, have important ramifications for future interpretations of enantiomer ratios and the study of pollution in sediment, soil, and sewer sludge.
