Products of the gas-phase reactions of linalool with OH radicals, NO3 radicals, and O3

Article Abstract:

Various analytical methods were used to examine the products of the gas-phase reactions of the biogenic terpene linalool with OH radicals, NO3 radicals, and O3. From the OH radical reaction, the products are acetone, 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one, and 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-5-hexen-1-al. The NO3 radical reaction yielded acetone, 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-5-hexen-1-al and a non-quantified nitrooxycarbonyl. Products from the O3 reaction are acetone, 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-5-hexen-1-al, 5-ethenyldihydro-5-methyl-2(3H)-furanone and HCHO. Their formation yields, formation routes and reaction mechanisms are presented.

Products of the gas-phase reactions of a series of methyl-substituted ethenes with the OH radical

Article Abstract:

Hydroxyhydroperoxides, dihydroxyalkanes and hydroxycarbonyls were formed from the reactions between intermediate beta-hydroxyalkyl peroxide radicals with water and organic peroxy radicals. Reaction of hydroxide radicals with 2-methylpropene, cis-2-butene, 2-methyl-2butene and 2,3-dimethyl-2-butene, meanwhile, resulted to the formation of hydroxynitrate. The hydroxynitrate formed constitute roughly 10% of the total products noted.

Product formation from the gas-phase reactions of OH radicals and O3 with beta-phellandrene

Article Abstract:

An investigation of the products of gas-phase reactions of beta-phellandrene with OH radicals and O3 is discussed. Sufficient amounts of the products formed in these reactions were collected by a locally developed experimental technique and were purified for spectroscopic identification. A single, identical, major product was found to be present in the reactions of OH radicals and O3 with beta-phellandrene.
