Programming with primordial ooze: useful software begins to crawl out of digital gene pools

Article Abstract:

Computers can be programmed to write their own software and reconstruct their own circuit designs. Weaker programs are dropped out of the evolution and consequently only stronger programs are produced. Programming that made manufacturing and service processes redundant is doing the same to itself.

Plantibodies: human antibodies produced by field crops enter clinical trials

Article Abstract:

Agracetus in Middleton, WI, has genetically enhanced corn by mutating them to become human anticancer proteins. The pharmaceutical partner of Agracetus is planning to start the injection of cancer patients with antibodies purified from mutant corn seeds.

Try, try again: making antibodies more useful by making them more human

Article Abstract:

Researchers are trying to turn monoclonal antibodies from mice into human antibodies. However, shots of murine monoclonal antibodies lead to the production of anti-mouse antibodies in humans, reducing the effects of the drug.
