Restoring wild salmon

Article Abstract:

The project aims to monitor what happens when freshwater riverflow and the tidal regime of Skagit Sovereign Bay return to a long isolated marshland. Stevenson Hinton, Dr. Greg Hood and his project team will map tidal channels, woody debris, and beaver dams, identify vegetation and estimate coverage and elevation, measure salinity, and collect fish and invertebrates samples.

Salmon of the Pacific Northwest

The project aims to assess stream and riparian restoration projects to benefit threatened salmon populations. Dr. Ralph Riley and his project team will collect data on potential habitat restoration sites to determine the suitability and needs of the habitats.

Sharks of Madagascar

The project studies the impact of a local shark fishery to manage marine biodiversity. The research team is launching an ambitious effort to assess the basic biology and conservation needs of sharks from the northwest Malagasy coast.
