Rethinking transportation in L.A

Article Abstract:

The concentration of so many people in Los Angeles, CA, is affecting its transportation system which is rapidly deteriorating. Advice on creating a balanced transportation system has fallen on deaf ears especially since special interest groups are campaigning against the development of other transportation modes. The planned expansion of the Metro Rail subway system, in particular, has been halted because of the pressure imposed by railway opponents. Therefore, the rapidly growing city of Los Angeles is still reliant on streets and freeways instead of following the lead of other states that have already built major subway lines.
