Researchers and public health officials have been attempting to find out how the West Nile virus, known in Africa, Asia and Europe made its way to the shores of the United States. Theories include that the virus arrived via a bird, mosquito or an infected traveler.

Article Abstract:

Biologist and conservationist Alan R. Rabinowitz works hard to discover and preserve animals around the world, and his recent efforts have found new species in Southeast Asia, including the diminutive leaf muntjac and the zebra-striped rabbit. Rabinowitz has worked for the Wildlife Conservation Society for more than 20 years in pursuit of animals.

Passport in time (PIT) is a US department of agriculture program that started nationally in 1991.PIT consists of volunteers who spend their vacation or retirement working with researchers in the field of forestry and archeology.
