A science journalist serving jury duty sees how science is stretched to accomodate its use in the legal system. Oftentimes, the supporting evidence requires more research, a luxury not available to juries in their formulation of a decision.

A confusing Little Ice Age

A small ice age may or may not have occurred in Europe between 1500 and 1899. Scientists dispute facts presented by others, saying that colder winters provide discrepancies in the weather patterns studied at lower elevations.
