Slim-look superconductors lead the applications race

Article Abstract:

Research interest in thin films of high-temperature superconductivity (HTS) material is growing as their advantages are becoming clear. Unlike HTS bulk materials, thin films do not bend or crack when deposited on an appropriate substrate material. Film-deposition techniques are discussed.

Microscopic tunneling spectroscopy on high-temperature superconductors

Article Abstract:

Advances in cryogenic scanning tunneling microscopy enabled the development of a technique for studying the contributions of each atomic position in the superconducting crystal structure. An overview of atomic site research on high-temperature superconductors is presented.

Paths to higher temperature superconductors

Article Abstract:

Scientists who attended a two-day workshop in Bodega Bay, CA, in Oct 1992 discussed approaches to developing superconductors with higher transition temperatures. A combination of logic, imagination and sound science is needed.
