Mathematical models of neural circuitry are gaining insights into the complexity of neurological activity. By combining computational models and theoretical analysis of the underlying mathematics, scientists are beginning to understand which neuronal properties are important to which behaviors.

Entrance exams at Japanese universities are extremely difficult. Even literature students are presented with complex math problems that US math major would find difficult. The math part of the exam has startled US educators by its sophistication.
