Solvothermal in situ metal/ ligand reactions: A new bridge between coordination chemistry and organic synthetic chemistry

Article Abstract:

A few significant solvothermal in situ metal/ligand reactions and their mechanisms inclusive of dehydrogenative carbon-carbon coupling and hydroxylation of aromatic rings are described. The significant potential of such reactions in the crystal engineering of functional coordination compounds and one-pot synthesis of some unique and inaccessible organic ligands validate the expectation that a new relation has been developed between coordination chemistry and synthetic chemistry.

Molecular engineering of octupolar NLO molecules and materials based on bipyridyl metal complexes

Article Abstract:

Coordination compounds are used to design new chromophores with large nonlinear optical (NLO) susceptibilities as they offer a wide range of metals with different oxidation states and ligands, which can give rise to tunable electronic properties. Two approaches to induce noncentrosymmetry at the macroscopic level, either by supramolecular organization or by the all-optical poling procedure, are described.

A paradigm change in assembling OH functionalities on metal centers

Article Abstract:

The reactivity and stability of terminal and bridging hydroxides of aluminum are reflected in the method of synthesis. The synthesis of terminal hydroxides of aluminum has mainly been facilitated by the proper tuning of the steric and electronic factors of the betaDLIGANDS (CHEMO diketiminate ligand while using aluminum halides instead of aluminum aryls or alkyls.
