Sources of organic halogens in spruce forest soil

Article Abstract:

A study investigates the sources of organic halogens and the deposition of needle litterfall in spruce forest soil in Denmark. Organic halogens with median concentration of 0.13 mg of Clorg g-1 dw and organic carbon with median concentration of 58 mg g-1 dw were detected in the soil. Results reveal that the amounts of organic halogens in the investigated soil originates mainly from sources within the forest and that their concentrations increase with time

Enhancing effect of marine oligotrophy on environmental concentrations of particle-reactive trace elements

Article Abstract:

Australian researchers presented a biogeochemical model that explains the inverse relationship of enhanced concentrations of particle-reactive trace elements in the environment with the productivity of zooplanktons and their biomass in the French Polynesia.
