Study on the thermo-elastic-plastic cutting model for 3-D tool with chip breaker

Article Abstract:

A 3-D thermo-elastic-plastic simulation model for a cutting tool with chip breaker was developed based on using deformation finite element, Lagrangian and finite difference methods. The model was tested by applying it to a mild steel workpiece under various chip breaker lengths to analyze changes in workpiece and chip shapes, stress, strain, temperature and cutting force. Results show that the chip breaker effects gets better as the chip breaker length gets shorter.

Creep rupture of multidirectional polymer composite laminates-influence of time-dependent damage

Article Abstract:

Evolution of various damage modes with time, in multidirectional laminates of a polymer composite subjected to a constant load was experimentally investigated. It was found that the sequence of evolution of these damages varied with laminate stacking sequence, stress and temperature.
