Synthetic strategies and structural aspects of metal-mediated multiporphyrin assemblies

Article Abstract:

The synthetic strategies that can be used for the construction of multiporphyrin assemblies and the X-ray structural features of the supramolecular assemblies are described. The collection of solid-state structures has demonstrated that the flexibility of the porphyrins and the metal junctions, combined with the conformational freedom of the coordination bonds, might lead to assemblies with hardly predictable architectures.

Hydrophobic and hydrophilic yoctowells

Article Abstract:

A study demonstrates that rigid molecular monolayers made of alpha,omega-diamido lipids form yoctoliter-sized gaps (yoctowells, 1yL = [10.sup.-24] L or l [nm.sup.3]) around porphyrin islands on smooth surfaces. Three porphyrins A, B, and C were sorted as stacks within the yoctowells, and a methylammonium ring was established at their rim to fixate a fourth molecule D at a longer distance.

Corrolazines: new frontiers in high-valent metalloporphyrinoid stability and reactivity

Article Abstract:

The synthesis of a novel ring-contracted porphyrinoid system known as corrolazine, developed to stabilize high oxidation states, including high-valent metal-oxo species is described. It is suggested that a novel metalloporphyrinoid species can be developed and significant mechanistic details can be got by direct modification of the porphyrin nucleus.
