Tantalizing tubes: hype aside, applications of carbon nanotubes progress -- slowly

Article Abstract:

Carbon nanotubes are strong, conductive, light-weight, flexible, and very tiny fibers of carbon atoms that may have wide applications in electronics and other industries. Nanotubes can act as diodes, transistors, field emitters, signal amplifiers and strengtheners, and may replace silicon in the race to miniturize computer and electronic components.
