Technology as knowledge - towards a new perspective on knowledge management in electronics

Article Abstract:

Practical examples of the application of the knowledge management concept are provided with respect to the experience of an electronics company classified as a small and medium-sized enterprise. The three examples given provide proof of the potential of this management concept for improving the product introduction process for semiconductor devices. Among the methods used in the application of the knowledge management concept are machine learning techniques taken from the artificial intelligence arena and inductive learning techniques that use neural networks and genetic algorithms.

Technology and innovation mismanagement in the Soviet enterprise

Article Abstract:

The role of technology in the national development of a country is discussed. The stagnation of Russia's commercial technology sector can be traced to the failure to succesfully infusetechnology into enterprises of the centrally-planned economy. The single-mindedobjective of producing towards a quota leads to high production but low qualityassurance. Reforms are needed to increase the effective utilization of domesticresearch breakthroughs and to absorb benefits from imported technologies.
