Testing times

Article Abstract:

The European Directive on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) has shown that an in-house test equipment strategy costing between 120,000-250,000 pound sterling is suitable to ensure electrical and electronic instrument safety. However, this cost far exceeds most companies' budgets and so pre-compliance test equipment at a lower cost may provide companies with the best options. The advantages and disadvantages of pre-compliance test equipment, a EMC approved test laboratory and an in-house test facility are discussed.

Testing care-giver acceptance of new syringe technologies

Article Abstract:

Evaluation of caregiver acceptance of alternative syringe technologies reveals that purchase share increased 6.9/100 for a new syringe technology combining automatic needle protection and syringe-locking features, most had preferences to buy Becton and Dickinson syringes, that price increases had a strong, negative effect on purchasing behavior and that most preferred buying 3 cc syringes from large, known distributors.

These include TBA Electro Conduction Products' ECP 400 series soft gaskets for shielding applications requiring at least 100 dB attenuation levels, Elkay's EMC cable glands, opening of the UK's largest EMC test facilities at Panasonic's European Television Division and Schaffner's launching of its ProfLine 4000 PC-based EMC test system.
