Folk science: Why our intuitions about how the world works are often wrong

Article Abstract:

A scientific analysis of the ancient folk science supposition about the effects of intercessory prayer on the health and recovery of patients undergoing coronary bypass surgery is presented. Results showed that prayer itself had no statistically significant effect on recovery and people would continue praying for their ailing loved ones, and by chance some of them would recover, and the folk science brains would find meaning in these random patterns.
