The magical mullein

Article Abstract:

Verbascum thapsus, more popularly called mullein, is a biennial plant found in North Temperate zones which can be used for medical and herbal applications. The plant contains an essential oil which makes it an effective alternative for expectorants and bronchodilators.

An antidote anecdote: coneflowers hold the antidote to the prairie rattlesnake's venom

Article Abstract:

The Echinacea or coneflower is not just remarkable because of its unique way of seed dispersal in a dry prairie. In its leaves, it also holds the antidote to the deadly venom of the prairie rattlesnake. This chemical is a glycoside called echinacoside.
