70 mpg hybrids

Toyota Motor Corp surprised US car manufacturers by announcing that it has already developed a ultrahigh-efficient car to be launched in Japan by fall of 1997. The hybrid five-seater midsize sedan can achieve an estimated 70 mpg, making it the most energy-efficient car for public use.

The plastic car: a manufacturing marvel that's lighter and cheaper than steel cars

Article Abstract:

Ticom Corp designed FunCar, a recreational vehicle made of glass-fiber enhanced plastic. It is a prototype of composite-made cars that eliminate the use of the steel frame. The assembly time is less hence reducing cost of car production.
