Dendrites shed their dull image

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that dendrites play a much more active role in shaping the lives of neurons than had previously been believed. Dendrites can adjust their activity in response to information they relay to the cell body, a process that could play a major part in learning and memory.

Researchers find neurons that may help us navigate

Article Abstract:

Scientists have identified neurons in the brain's medial superior temporal area that appear to serve as a heading computation center. Single neurons combine visual information and information from eye movements to determine a correct heading.
