Thermal activation of hydrocarbon C-H bonds by Cp(sup)*M(NO) complexes of molybdenum and tungsten

Article Abstract:

This article describes thermal reactivity of the pseudooctahedral 16-electron Cp(sup)*M(NO)R(sub)2 systems of molybdenum and tungsten to form a wide range of reactive 16e nitrosyl complexes, which mediate intermolecular single, double, or triple activation of hydrocarbone C-H bonds. Results discuss kinetics and mechanistic aspects of the above thermal activation reactions.

Isotope effects in C-H bond activation reactions by transition metals

Article Abstract:

Research shows that the inverse kinetic isotope effect for alkane reductive elimination in transient sigma-alkane complexes occurs because of an inverse equilibrium isotope effect that separates the alkyl hydride complex from the sigma-alkane complex. Data indicate that such isotope effects originate from two opposing normal kinetic isotope effects.

Bond dissociation energies of organic molecules

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the bond energies with respect to their role in chemical transformations involving fromation and breaking of chemical bonds. The bond energies are used to derive heats of formation of organic radicals, bond enthalpies of organic molecules. Methods for measuring bond energies are described.
