Toward "point one." (0.1 micron-wide semiconductor chips)

Article Abstract:

Semiconductor makers expect that research on memory and microprocessor chips will soon lead to the development of extremely small chips that can carry gigabits of data, but the goal of 0.1-micron-wide chips has not yet been attained. At present, the narrowest chips are 0.35 microns wide.
