U.S. students perform below average on international math and problem-solving test

Article Abstract:

High school students from the United States scored below the international averages on a comprehensive test of applied mathematics and problem solving administered in 2003. The test was given to students of age 15 years, in 40 different countries, where the United States students achieved an overall score of 483, the international average being 500.

Fast action solves traffic nightmare in Connecticut

Article Abstract:

A truck met with an accident in Bridgeport, Connecticut on March 25, 2004. This truck hit a concrete wall on the temporary steel replacement bridge put into service but due to the fast action of the Connecticut Department of Transportation, the bridge was replaced within five days.
