Monopoles, quarks and antimatter are the elusive components and biproducts of subatomic particles. They are vigorously pursued by scientists through this period of exceedingly rare confirmation of any of the theories positing the existence of these three miniscule elements.

QED for QCD: a supercomputer backs the theory of quarks

Article Abstract:

A supercomputer at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center helped to confirm a theory of elementary particles by running calculations for about one year. The research team demonstrated that the calculations of the masses of hadrons were consistent with laboratory results.

Quarks by computer

Article Abstract:

Researchers studied quarks by running quantum chromodynamics calculations on a supercomputer for several years. They were able to calculate the masses of the proton and seven hadrons. The computer also helped to identify a new particle.
