Blowup at Yucca Mountain

Article Abstract:

A paper warning that the Yucca Mt site could run the risk of a nuclear explosion was reported by the New York Times, creating a public controversy. The research, by Charles Bowman of Los Alamos National Lab, has been rejected by peer review, but the publicity has jeopardized the long-planned project.

Yucca blowup theory bombs, says study

Article Abstract:

A Univ of California at Berkeley report nuclear enegineering faculty report dismissed a theory that spent nuclear fuels stored at the proposed Yucca Mountain, NV, facility could reach a supercritical mass and cause a nuclear explosion. The danger from dismantled but unspent weapons was not ruled out.

Found: candidate for missing mass?

Article Abstract:

Los Alamos National Laboratory researcher's claim that neutrinos may have a small mass could revolutionize physics and cosmology. If verified, the finding could help physicists replace the 'Standard Model' and help cosmologists explain dark mater.
