A measurement model of cortisol reactivity of healthy older adults

Article Abstract:

Salivary cortisol levels are a sensitive measure of stress in healthy older adults. A study conducted on older adults reveals that cortisol reactivity is situation dependent, indicating that a congeneric measurement is more efficient for analyzing cortisol reactivity than a homogeneous reliability model. Cortisol response in older adults depends upon stimulus intensity. The responses in subjects are consistent during different experimental conditions but the response pattern varies over a period of time.

The locus of age-related movement slowing: sensory processing in continuous goal-directed aiming

Article Abstract:

The locus of age-related slowing in the performance of a continuous aiming movement is related to feedforward and on-line sensory processes. The capacity of elderly people to utilize feedforward and on-line processes during a task is low as compared to young adults. The adjustment and reversal times in the elderly during a task involving reciprocal tapping with the right and left hands are higher. The delay in movement times in the older people is due to a higher dependence on slower feedback processes.

Optical flow, spatial orientation, and the control of posture in the elderly

Article Abstract:

An investigation of the effect of the three standard conditions of optical flow on the perceptual motor activity of the aged, through stability graphic and computer simulation techniques, reveals a decrease in stability with age. The radio flow optical condition and the lamellar condition do not vary with age, and older subjects exhibit better movement for all the motion variables.
