A systemic-wholistic approach to differential aging: Longitudinal findings from the Berlin Aging Study

Article Abstract:

The cross-sectional work in Berlin Aging Study was extended to 6-year longitudinal cluster analyses for long-term prediction of outcomes and within-person systemic variability to differential aging. Independent of subgroup membership, subgroup-to-subgroup change was associated with greater decline and predicted mortality. Findings demonstrated the usefulness of a wholistic approach for long-term prediction of outcomes and within-person systemic variability.

No aging bias favoring memory for positive material: Evidence from a heterogeneity-homogeneity list paradigm using emotionally toned words

Article Abstract:

The memory for positive, negative, and neutral words presented in emotion-heterogeneous (mixed valence) and emotion-homogeneous (single valence) lists is examined. Although there was no support for age-specific processing biases in memory for emotionally toned words, findings are consistent with proposals that negative information receives processing priority in some contexts.

Reduced negativity effect in older adults' memory for emotional pictures: the heterogeneity-homogeneity list paradigm

Article Abstract:

The recognition memory for emotional pictures is studied in adults of varying ages through the use of the heterogeneity-homogeneity list paradigm. This is done to see whether there existed an age-related shift in the proportion of positive and negative information remembered.
