Alaskan Stan Stephens warns, oil and water don't mix

Article Abstract:

A cruise-ship operator from Prince William Sound in Alaska warns of the dire consequences to the environment of oil spills. He also informs the public of oil tankers and companies' pollution carelessness. Forty-three thousand tons of hydrocarbons are emitted every year including cancer-causing benzene. He says that the government should impose more pollution controls in the oil industry.

Jim Curtis's crusade against mining: the drill is gone

Article Abstract:

Former university communications professor, Jim Curtis, is an active environmentalist who has successfully prevented mining operations and energy development in Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana. He believes that such operations incur environmental damages to the wilderness which is covered by the 1964 Wilderness Act.

The shores of Maine are being explored by tourists of all ages via windjamming. The 600-square-mile Penobscot Bay is home to schooners which ferry passengers from three to six days along the wildlife-rich shores.
