Women are more likely to grow old alone and poor because retirement benefits such as Social Security, pension and savings do not reward them as much as they do men. The fact that many women have part-time or temporary jobs only exacerbates matters. Given this, women should fight for equal rights to ensure a brighter future for themselves.

A middle-aged woman who fell on the street on a busy New York morning experienced the kindness of a stranger when an Asian woman of her age helped her up as she lay on her stomach.
