Cognitive status, muscle strength, and subsequent disability in older mexican americans

Article Abstract:

Study made to observe the relation between cognitive ability and muscle strength or grip strength is made. Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) score was used to determine the cognitive function of Mexican-American men and women aged 65 and older and living in southwestern parts United States. Study is also made to find out the relation between impaired cognition and incident activity of daily living. Results of the study reveal that the people with low cognition are more prone to loose handgrip muscle strength.

Frailty in older mexican americans

Article Abstract:

Research was made to determine optimal strategies for the promotion identification and treatment of frailty in older Mexican Americans by using Hispanic Estabished Populations for Epidemiologic Study of the Elderly (EPESE), fixed , frailty index, muscle strength by handheld device, Activity of Daily Life (ADL), Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), Body mass index (BMS), Socio demographic characteristics data analysis.
