Deriving a risk-adjustment model for pressure ulcer development using the minimum data set

Article Abstract:

Research suggests that the minimum data set is an effective tool for assessing risk of pressure ulcer development in nursing home residents. The method is based on a multivariate logistic regression model, and was applied to nearly 15,000 patients who had no pressure ulcers of stage 2 or larger.

Purchasing or providing nursing home care: can quality of care data provide guidance

Article Abstract:

A comparative analysis of the quality of care being provided by Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) nursing homes and that provided by nursing homes under contract with VA for provision of such services is presented. It is concluded that quality of services provided by nursing homes differed for different ailments and hence it is difficult for VA to conclude which nursing home is the best or worst.
