Distractibility, circadian arousal, and aging: a boundary condition?

Article Abstract:

Earlier findings on distractibility and its relation to age were replicated by two new studies that showed age differences in susceptibility to distraction. In examining whether a synchrony effect exists between peak circadian arousal and time of testing, participants were asked to read aloud a text where distracting words, if and when present, were either thematically related or unrelated to the target text. The distracting material was also presented in either spatially predictable or unpredictable locations.
